When producing MMX products, technologies known in polymer chemistry are applied. This specific process is based on using only water; no organic solvents are needed. The polymer matrix of micro capsules is obtained by creating covalent bonds between polysaccharide chains forming chemically and physically stable structures.

Empty MMX spheres are almost transparent, yet visible when particle size is higher than several hundred microns. They can be coloured to desired shade expressing the function of different actives entrapped. The visual aspect of coloured micro-particles in cosmetic formulations can modify the entire appearance of the final product.

MicroMatrix® technology enables mixing of different incompatible compounds. The technology can be adapted to most lipids, or products, which are soluble or dispersible in lipid media. They can be entrapped individually or as mixtures. For visual effects, pigments, lakes or pearlescent pigments can be incorporated into the polysaccharide structure.
